If you are born again you are a new creation, a spiritual being, sinless, holy and perfect in Christ. All the old moral and spiritual condition has passed away.
Heb 10v10 “And in accordance with this will of God, we have been made holy (consecrated and sanctified) through the offering made once for all of the body of Jesus Christ (the Anointed One).
Heb 10v12-14 “Whereas this one (Christ), after He had offered a single sacrifice for our sin (that shall avail) for all time, sat down at the right hand of God. Then to wait until His enemies should be made a stool beneath His feet. For by a single offering He has forever completely cleansed and perfected those who are consecrated and made holy”.
You must grasp this. You are in HIM! (If any man be in Christ he is a new creature 2 Cor5v17). This means you are joined to Him. 1 Cor6v17. You are one spirit with Him. He is in you. John 17v23. He is in the Father. John17v21. The Father is in HIM. The Father is in you. That means He and the Father are in you and you are in Them. His Spirit is in you.
Colossians 2v9-10 “For in Him the whole fullness of Deity (the Godhead) continues to dwell in bodily form (giving complete expression of the divine nature). And you are in Him made full and having come to fullness of life (in Christ you too are filled with the Godhead- Father, Son and Holy Spirit- and reach full spiritual stature). And He is the Head of all rule and authority (of every angelic principality and power).
Now how can sin operate in our unity with Him? Does Jesus sin? Does God sin? Never! Is part of Jesus sinful? Absolutely not! But you are part of Him! Joined to Him! If you see yourself as sinful, do you now see sin in Him who is perfect? Of course you don’t! This will challenge what a lot of people have been taught but you have to go with what the word of God says. There is no sin in Jesus Christ. He is perfect even with us in Him. That means we are perfect and holy as Heb 10v12-14 quoted above says.
The person who is united to the Lord becomes one spirit with Him 1 Cor6v17.
We can be joined to Him because we are the same as Him.
Eph 2v5 “Even when we were dead (slain) by our own shortcomings and trespasses, He made us alive together in fellowship and in union with Christ; (He gave us the very life of Christ Himself, the same new life with which He quickened Him for) it is by grace (His favour and mercy which you did not deserve) that you are saved (delivered from judgement and made partakers of Christ’s salvation).
We are new creatures with new life. The life that was given to us at our rebirth is the same new life that exploded in Jesus Christ when He rose from the dead. In Him we have been made perfect, holy and righteous. This is why we can be joined to Him without bringing sin into the Godhead.
Sin is abolished (Heb9v26 Amplified Bible) or as other translations say “put away with”. Read Hebrews 9 verses 24 to 28 in different translations and the Amplified bible. The law and the decrees that condemned us, because we broke them continually, were nailed to the cross.
Colos 2v13-14 And you who were dead in trespasses and in the uncircumcision of your flesh (your your sensuality, your sinful carnal nature), God brought to life together with Christ, having freely forgiven us all our transgressions. Having cancelled and blotted out and wiped away the handwriting of the note (bond) with its legal decrees and demands which was in force and stood against us (hostile to us). This (note with its regulations, decrees and demands) He set aside and cleared completely out of our way by nailing it to (His ) cross.
If your bank manager tells you someone paid off your loan and tears up the loan agreement you have with him saying this loan is cleared completely, are you still obligated to make payments or to keep the conditions of the agreement? You would be silly if you did! Your obligations to the terms and conditions of that agreement are over.
We were guilty and we died in Christ Jesus. God reckoned us joined to Him and in Him on the cross. The sacrifice of Jesus on the cross to pay for the sins of the whole world was an eternal act outside of time. A once and for always act. It removed the sin of the world past, present and future for all time. The price was paid in full. That obligation and barrier which stood between God and us is removed eternally.
God sees us through the completed work of the cross at Calvary. If we are born again He sees us all as totally new creatures, born of God, sons in His household!
2 Cor5v16 says, “Therefore, from now on, we regard no one according to the flesh.”
That includes how we regard ourselves! We are to see ourselves as He sees us! You are not a failure or a misfit. Your Heavenly Father loves you and accepts you completely. He sees you as spirit. You are spirit. What is born of the Spirit is spirit. (John 3v6.) You have a soul (will intellect emotions) and you live in a body but you are a spirit being.
Recently I was driving a group to a church where we were going to minister. A lady in the car with us was talking about the state of the church and asking how Jesus could come back for a perfect bride without spot or blemish. She was saying that manipulation, gossip, control, divorce, adultery, idolatry, false doctrine and all kinds of are stuff going on. My reply was, “No! The Church is perfect and holy! She’s the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus and she’s the delight of the Father and the Son. He loves her as much as He loves Jesus. (John 17 v3.)” Don’t judge according to the flesh. (I will deal with how we are to live and conduct ourselves in Christ in the next Blog).
We have been circumcised. The sin nature removed from us. As our minds are renewed, our will, emotions and feelings will be transformed. It takes time. We went on a barge trip for a week. I could still feel the rocking motion for days after we got back home. My mind knew I wasn’t on the water but my feelings were telling me I was. My feelings followed my mind a couple of days later. The rocking sensations ceased.
Do not be governed by your feelings. Don’t let them bring condemnation on you. As you meditate on who you are in Christ they will fall in line with the word.
But you are a chosen race a royal priesthood a dedicated nation, God’s own purchased special people, that you may set forth the wonderful deeds and display the virtues and perfections of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvellous light. 1 Peter 2v9.
The church has to see herself as Jesus sees her to do the works of Jesus today. He was and is the exact representation of the Father. How can we represent the Father if we are continually, in error, seeing ourselves as weak, struggling with sin, defeated and consequently powerless? We don’t need to hold onto Jesus’ feet with all our strength and continually ask for mercy? Hey! We are free! Sin is abolished, done away with, put aside eternally. The blood of Jesus which purchased us speaks over us and we have free access to His throne by that blood.
Let us rise up and be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might without any fear or shame.
